New York City is America's heartbeat. Today we went to see the Statue of Liberty. It is a powerful symbol to people around the world and Americans are justifiably proud of this great landmark. Since 1967, I have been to America many times and today's tour demonstrates to me, once again, the power of this country's ideals.

Los Angeles is a great and vibrant city with a diverse economic base and high quality of life. But what I’ve been most struck by is how Los Angeles is attempting to balance robust economic and population growth with smart, sustainable development practices designed to protect its air, water and coastline and reduce its carbon footprint. There is much to learn here.
